University Police | Alchol and drug abuse | Sexual Harassment | Reporting Obligations | Graduation Rate Data | There are numerous serious issues that confront our society, our communities, and at times, our personal lives. The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh provides assistance regarding many issues in the form of information, programs, and resource personnel. Re: focuses on several issues that warrant attention and awareness: campus safety, alcohol and other drug abuse, and sexual harassment and assault. Graduation rate data are also given here. University Police (top) Alcohol and other drug abuse (top) Sexual harassment (top) Recognizing that sexual harassment is both a real and a difficult problem, the University has developed a well-defined, resolution-oriented procedure to respond to complaints of sexual harassment. Any such procedure must emphasize accessibility, confidentiality, and the protection of civil rights, civil liberties and academic freedoms. This can be accomplished by providing maximum access to the resources of the University to those who feel they have been harassed and to offer a procedure that is clear, understandable and fair to those whose behavior is called into question. Any student, faculty or staff member who needs more information regarding sexual harassment can contact either the Dean of Students Office, Dempsey Hall 125 (424-3100) or the Affirmative Action Office, Dempsey Hall 211 (424-2296). A list of sexual harassment access persons is provided in the section on campus resources on page 8. A detailed sexual harassment complaint procedure can also be obtained from these offices. Sexual harassment and assault reporting
obligations (top) A state law directed at University employees provides that: "Any person employed at a University of Wisconsin System institution or center who witnesses a sexual assault on campus or receives a report from a student enrolled in the institution shall report to the dean of students...." (Reference: Section 36.11 (21)(c), Wisconsin Statutes.) The dean of students serves as the University's coordinator for compliance with this reporting requirement for employees. If you are an employee and witness an assault on campus please contact the University Police. After contacting the police, please report the incident to the Dean of Students, 125 Dempsey Hall, or by phone at 424-3100. In addition, if you learn firsthand of a suspected assault that occurred to a student or on campus, please contact the Dean of Students Office. If you are a student and are a victim of an assault or witness an assault, see the section "Should I Report an Assault? ". All information is treated in a confidential manner. (The only exception to the pledge of confidentiality is for suspected sexual assaults of persons under 18 years of age.) Reports will be compiled as required under state law. Graduation
